Hey Reader!
Last month, I shared a conversation about the experiences that have shaped my journey as an occupational therapist. Toward the end of that conversation, I talked about two patients with long-standing neck pain who experienced meaningful improvements after completing a series of simple eye-movement exercises.
Several people were curious about those exercises, so I wanted to share a little more.
Our eyes, neck, and balance systems work closely together. When that connection isn't functioning as efficiently as it could, the body may compensate in ways that contribute to tension or discomfort. For the right person, targeted eye-movement exercises can sometimes help improve that connection.
I've put together a short resource that explains the exercises, when they may be helpful, and a few important things to keep in mind before trying them.
As always, these exercises aren't a replacement for an individualized evaluation or medical advice, and they won't be appropriate for everyone. If you have questions about whether they're right for you, I'd encourage you to speak with a qualified healthcare provider.
I hope you find this resource helpful, and I'd love to hear what you think. KW-CN3 -3-Exercises.pdf
